I have been moved onto Universal Credit and am no longer eligible for free prescriptions. What can I do?

Household income is just one category within prescription charge exemptions. You may meet exemption criteria in another category such as your age or an existing medical condition. We recommend using the Government’s health cost calculator to check your eligibility for other help.
If you’re not eligible for any financial support with health costs, you might want to consider purchasing a Prescription Prepayment Certificate (PPC). This can save you money if you’re prescribed 2 or more medications on a repeat basis. Our PPC guide outlines the different types of PPC and how to purchase one. Once issued, you can add this to your account by following these steps:
Go to Account
Select Payments and Exemptions
Click Edit Exemption
Choose exemption code F – has a valid prescription prepayment certificate
If we received approval from your GP for a prescription requested before 5th April 2025, the cost of this will be covered by your previous exemption.
