I had a tax credit exemption certificate. What should I do next?

From 5th April 2025, tax credit exemption certificates will no longer cover the cost of NHS prescriptions. You should check if you qualify for free prescriptions under another exemption. You can use the Government’s health cost calculator to check your eligibility for other help.
If you’re eligible for another exemption, you can update your details by logging into your account and following these steps:
Go to Account
Select Payments and Exemptions
Click Edit Exemption
Choose the correct exemption
If you no longer qualify for an exemption, you’ll pay the standard NHS charge per item for your prescription.
If we received approval from your GP for a prescription requested before 5th April 2025, the cost of this will be covered by your previous exemption.
