How long is a prescription valid for?
Updated
A pet prescription is usually valid for six months from the date your vet signs it, unless your veterinary surgeon chooses to set a shorter expiry period. Some conditions or treatments may require more frequent review, and your vet will indicate this on the prescription if needed.
The main exception is controlled drugs, which have a maximum validity of 28 days from the signed date. These must be used within that timeframe, even if the prescription states repeats.
What this means for your orders
You can only place orders while the prescription is still within its valid date range.
If your prescription includes repeats, all remaining repeats must also be used before the expiry date.
Once a prescription expires, a new one will be required before any further medicine can be dispensed.
