Can I request a specific brand of medication?
Updated
If your GP surgery sends a prescription that doesn’t specify a brand, we may dispense the generic version of the medicine. Generic medicines contain the same active ingredient and work in the same way, but the name and packaging may differ.
If you need a specific brand, your GP must write that brand name directly on your prescription. It’s best to speak with your GP beforehand to make sure they issue the prescription exactly as required.
